How the platform came about
For my own computer science lessons I was looking for an exam environment with good support for Python and turtle graphics in the browser, for writing the code as much as for marking it. None of the environments I knew could do that. So I built one for myself. When other teachers wanted to work with it, it grew into a platform step by step.
What it has become
Each task sets whether it is solved in WebTigerPython or in plain Python; turtle graphics are available either way. For marking, every programming task can carry a grading program of its own: it calls the submitted solution, checks how it behaves and proposes the marks from that, much like test cases in software development. Exams are sat in the Safe Exam Browser.
About me
I teach computer science at a Swiss upper secondary school. Before that I developed software and led projects at a Swiss software company. What the platform needs to do is still decided in my own lessons and in the feedback from the teachers who work with it.
